happiergym is a strength-training log. It records the sets you lift and works out what you should aim for next time. This page explains exactly what it collects, where that goes, and how to get rid of it.
happiergym is operated by Victor Lucas. You can reach us at privacy@happiergym.com.
1. What we do not collect
- No analytics, no usage tracking, no advertising identifiers, no third-party trackers.
- No ads. We never sell your personal information, and we never share it for advertising. The one place your data goes to another company at your request is Strava, and only if you connect it yourself (see below).
- No payment details. happiergym does not charge you, so there is nothing to store.
- No contacts, no address book, no precise location.
- No remote push notifications, so no device push token and no server that can message your phone. happiergym schedules two reminders locally, on the device itself: the weigh-in reminder you set a day and time for, and an alert when a rest timer runs out while the app is in the background.
2. What we collect
Account
You sign in with Google or with Apple, through Supabase Auth. We receive your email address and, from Google, your profile name and picture. We request only the basic permissions: your identity, email address and basic profile. We never request access to your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, contacts or any other Google service.
Training data
Your workouts, routines, exercise history and body-weight entries are written to a database on your own device first. If you are signed in, they are also synced to our Supabase database so you do not lose them when you change phone. Every row is tied to your user ID and protected by row-level security, so one account cannot read another's.
Apple Health
Nothing here happens until you turn it on. Four separate switches control it: save workouts to Health, import your weight, import other apps' activities, and count an estimated workout toward your Move ring. Each one asks iOS for its own permission before it does anything, and you can withdraw any of them in Health, under Sharing, at any time.
What happiergym reads, with those switches on: workouts, heart rate, active energy burned, walking and running, cycling and swimming distance, flights climbed, and body mass. Heart rate and active energy are read for the span of a workout you logged, so your session shows what your watch measured. Distance and flights climbed come from workouts other apps recorded, when you import them. Body mass is read so your weight history is not split across two apps, and to estimate the energy of a session nothing measured.
What happiergym writes: a completed strength workout, with its start time, duration and energy total. Separately, and only if you switch on the Move ring option, an active-energy sample for a session no Apple Watch recorded. Nothing else is ever written, and happiergym only ever changes or removes entries it wrote itself.
Where those readings go. Measurements imported from Apple Health (heart rate, active energy, distance, flights climbed and body mass) are stored on your phone alongside the workout or weigh-in they belong to. If you back your data up to our Supabase database, they are included in that backup, because they are part of those rows. They are never used for advertising, never used for use-based data mining, never sold, and never shared with any other company. They are not sent to Strava, and they are not sent to an AI model.
Strava
Off unless you connect it. Connecting sends you to Strava to authorise happiergym, and we ask for one permission there: the ability to upload activities to your account. We cannot read your Strava activities, your feed or the people you follow.
While it is connected, each workout you finish is uploaded to Strava as an activity, and you can send older workouts from the Strava screen in the app. What travels with it is the workout's name, when it started, how long it took, and the sets you completed (the exercise, the weight and the reps). No heart rate, no body weight, no email address, nothing about your happiergym account.
To make that possible, our backend stores the connection itself: the access and refresh tokens Strava issues, your Strava athlete ID and the name on your Strava account, and a record of which workouts have already been sent, so none is uploaded twice. Disconnect in the app and we ask Strava to revoke the tokens and delete that connection here. The record of which workouts were already sent stays until you delete your account, so reconnecting does not upload everything again.
Scale photos
Entirely optional, and an alternative to typing the number yourself. If you photograph your scale, the image is sent to our backend, which passes it to an AI model for the single purpose of reading the digits on the display. We do not store the photo, and we do not keep it after the reading comes back. Only the number is saved.
AI routine generation
If you ask happiergym to draft a routine, the answers you gave in the intake questions (your experience level, available days and equipment) are sent to our backend and on to an AI model, which returns a draft routine for you to accept or reject. The “Your coach” conversation in the app is that feature: its questions and replies are pre-written app copy, and no person reads your answers.
Technical logs
Our hosting and database providers keep short-lived server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and debugging. We do not use these to build a profile of you.
3. Your data is not used to train AI models
Neither your scale photos nor your intake answers nor your training history are used to train, fine-tune or improve any AI model. Requests are sent through providers configured so that content is not retained for training.
AI output is probabilistic. A generated routine is a starting suggestion, not a professionally prescribed training plan, and a number read from a photo can be wrong. Check it before you save it.
4. Cookies
The happiergym app does not use cookies. This website sets no cookies of its own, uses no analytics, and does no cross-site tracking. It loads a webfont from Google Fonts, which means Google receives the request for that font file.
5. Who else processes your data
| Provider | What for | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Authentication, database and backend functions | Link |
| Sign in with Google (only if you choose it) | Link | |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, and Apple Health on your device | Link |
| Strava | Receives the workouts you upload (only if you connect it) | Link |
| OpenRouter | Routes AI requests from our backend to a model provider | Link |
| Anthropic | Reads the number on a scale photo, and drafts routines | Link |
| RepDB (exercise-dataset.com) | Hosts some exercise illustrations your app loads | Link |
| Expo (EAS) | Hosts this website and delivers app updates | Link |
Some exercise illustrations are loaded from exercise-dataset.com while you browse. That means the host of those images receives your device's IP address, as it would for any image on the internet. It receives nothing about your account or your training.
6. How long we keep things
- Scale photos: not stored. Discarded once the number has been read.
- Account, workouts and weigh-ins: kept until you delete them or delete your account.
- Strava connection: tokens, athlete ID and Strava name are deleted as soon as you disconnect, and in any case when you delete your account.
- Data on your phone: removed when you uninstall the app.
- Server logs: short-lived, per our providers' retention.
7. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy. Email privacy@happiergym.com and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are in the EEA or UK, the GDPR gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to your supervisory authority. We process your data to provide the service you asked for, and on your consent for optional features such as Apple Health, Strava and scale photos. You can withdraw that consent at any time in the app. If you are in Brazil, the LGPD gives you equivalent rights. If you are in California, you have the right to know, delete and correct; happiergym does not sell your personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
You can delete your account from within the app, which removes your synced data. Deleting the app alone only removes the copy on your phone.
8. Where your data is processed
Our providers operate internationally, so your data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Transfers rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Children
happiergym is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
10. Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS. Your synced data sits behind per-user row-level security. We never see or hold your Google or Apple password, because sign-in happens with those providers directly. No system is perfect; if a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
11. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Please check back from time to time.
